For much of Wednesday conference match against WVIAC power West Virginia Wesleyan, the Concord Women's Soccer team was a mere one goal short of drawing even.

Ultimately, the Lady Lions couldn't get that goal, and wound up on the wrong end of a 1-0 result on a beautiful late summer afternoon at Anderson Field.

The match was fairly even until Rachel Ritchey scored the game's only goal in the 15th minute. After that, the Bobcats carried the play, outshooting CU 11-3 before halftime.

After the break, WVWC went to a more defensive posture and continued to hold the possession edge. Wesleyan would outshoot the Lady Lions 12-1 in the 2nd half and 23-4 for the game.

Concord was without All-WVIAC midfielder Kate Armentrout, but got another superlative outing from goalkeeper Kacey Hildebrand. The senior from Huntington, WV recorded 10 saves, in her third double-digit stop performance of the season.

Up next for the Lady Lions is a WVIAC match against Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday, September 14 at Anderson Field. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon, and admission is free.
