For much of Saturday's match at Seton Hill, the Concord Women's Soccer team appeared to be on the verge of its first victory of the season.

But then came an unwelcome September flurry.

The host Griffins scored three goals in a span of 13 minutes late in the 2nd half to defeat the Lady Lions, 3-1, in their WVIAC opener in Greensburg, PA.

Concord got the game's first goal on Alyssa Hessian's free kick, from just outside the penalty area, in the 19th minute. For a while, it looked like that goal would stand up.

CU kept a 1-0 lead until the 78th minute, when SHU's Jackie Fawcett scored the equalizer off an assist from Brenna O'Leary.
O'Leary tallied a goal of her own, assisted by Jessica Adams, to put the Griffins ahead in the 87th minute.
Seton Hill added the final goal when Amber Mondock scored off an assist from Makiesh Taylor in the 90th minute.

Concord goalkeeper Kacey Hildebrand posted 11 saves, her second double-digit save total of the season.

Up next for the Lady Lions (0-3, 0-1) is their home opener, against defending WVIAC champion West Virginia Wesleyan, on Wednesday, September 14 at Anderson Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm and admission is free.
