LADY LIONS SINK FLEET, BOW TO CRUSADERS AT UC TOURNAMENT

Concord's Volleyball team won one and lost one on Friday, in the first day at the University of Charleston Tournament in Charleston, WV.

The Lady Lions defeated Erskine College (SC) in four sets  -- 27-25, 20-25, 25-19, 25-22 -- getting some payback against a Flying Fleet squad that swept Concord in the USC-Aiken Tournament a year ago.

In Friday's second match, Concord fell to Belmont Abbey (NC) in four sets -- 25-13, 25-17, 22-25, 25-19. 
Senior Helen Theisen handed out 14 assists while adding five kills against the Crusaders; freshman Sarah Jones floored seven kills to lead CU.  Freshmen Nikki McMillan and Amanda Walker chipped in 10 assists and 10 digs, respectively.

Friday's split leaves CU's record at 2-4.

On Saturday's second day of the Charleston tournament, the Lady Lions are scheduled to play Chowan University  (NC) and Virginia Union.  Chowan which defeated CU
in four sets at its own tournament last weekend.
