Concord's Volleyball team concluded a noteworthy visit to West Virginia's capital city on Saturday, winning a pair of matches on the second and final day of the University of Charleston tournament.

The Lady Lions defeated Chowan University (NC) in a five-set thriller, and followed it with a sweep of Virginia Union to finish the tournament 3-1. CU split two matches on Friday.

Concord has won four of its last five matches to raise its season to 4-4.

CU's 25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-11 victory over Chowan exacted a measure of payback against the Hawks, who swept Concord in a match last weekend on Chowan's home court in Murfreesboro, NC.

The Concord-Chowan nail biter on Saturday was in stark contrast to the Lady Lions' second match of the day. CU dispatched Virginia Union 25-13, 25-16, 25-21.

Up next for the Lady Lions is their WVIAC opener, at Davis & Elkins on Tuesday, September 13. Match time is set for 7:00 pm in Elkins, WV.
