The day started with smiles, but ended with frowns. Concord committed five errors in a 9-1 loss that let the visiting Golden Eagles complete a sweep of the three-game series. (UC swept a doubleheader on Friday afternoon.)

BOXSCORE / PLAY-BY-PLAY

UC took advantage of two Concord errors to jump out to a 4-0 lead off Webb, CU's starting pitcher, after the top of the 1st.

The Mountain Lions got one of the runs back in the bottom of the inning, when Webb singled up the middle to drive in Randy Beard.
But that would all CU could muster against Charleston starter Alec Austin, who went into Sunday's game with a 9.33 ERA.

Austin would allow six hits and three walks in 6 1/3 innings to get the win.

Ryan Hathaway's RBI single in the 4th made the score 5-1. The Golden Eagles would score single runs in each of the last four innings to pull away.

Beard (left) led Concord by going 2-3 with a double. But Charleston outhit the Mountain Lions 17-6, and went 8-20 with runners in scoring position to Concord's 1-6.

Up next for Concord is a visit to Pitt-Johnstown for a WVIAC seven-inning doubleheader on Wednesday, April 20. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
