LADY LIONS SWEPT BY BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE

Concord's Softball team moved into the third day of its appearance at the Cocoa Beach Spring Expo Wednesday, dropping a doubleheader to Bloomfield College (NJ) by scores of 2-1 and 3-1.

In the first game, the Deacons reached CU starter Tamara Smith for a run in the bottom of the 1st. Concord tied the game in the top of the 5th, but Bloomfield strung together three straight two-out singles in the bottom of the inning to take back the lead for good.

In the second game, BC took and 2-0 lead in the top of the 4th inning, and added a single run in the 6th. Meanwhile, Deacons' starting pitcher Kaila Dugger kept the Lady Lions at bay, retiring the first 16 batters she faced.
Concord rallied in the bottom of the 7th, starting the inning with three straight hits to get within 3-1. But Dugger retired the next three hitters to end the threat, and the game.

Concord continues play at Cocoa Beach tomorrow.
