WITH AND WITHOUT

SLOW START TOO MUCH TO OVERCOME

Timeout at UC 1024 x 768

Concord's Women's Basketball team went into its WVIAC matchup at the University of Charleston without starting forward Sidney Lindsey

The Golden Eagles went into Wednesday's matchup with a chance to take over 1st place in the WVIAC.

Lindsey had averaged 22 points and eight rebounds the four games prior to last Saturday's win over Fairmont State, in which she injured her ankle in the 1st half.

Charleston had its 11-game winning streak snapped last Saturday at Seton Hill, and was looking for a perfect 12-0 record at home.

While the Lady Lions adjusted to playing without Lindsey, the Golden Eagles were strong early and went on to hold off Concord 80-63 at the Eddie King Gymnasium.

Concord struggled in the first half, shooting 9-27 (.333) from the field. Meanwhile, UC flourished, shooting 18-31 (.581) to lead 42-25 at the break. Concord fought back to within 11 points in the 2nd half but could draw no closer.

Jolysa Brown just missed her 15th double-double of the season, ending with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Amanda Smith started for Lindsey and finished with 10 points, all in the 2nd half.

Tarenna Dixon led UC (21-6, 17-4) back to the top of the league standings with a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds. Lindsey Kentner shot 7-10 from the floor and finished with 15 points.
