Having one legitimate inside presence can make a team competitive in the guard-heavy WVIAC.

Having two can make a team very difficult to beat.

Concord's women's basketball team got double-doubles from Jolysa Brown and Andrea Bertrand for the second straight game in defeating WVIAC rival Seton Hill, 80-66, Saturday evening in Greensburg, PA.

Bertrand, a sophomore forward from Midlothian, VA, posted game highs of 28 points and 11 rebounds.  Brown, a senior center from Hinton, WV – and the reigning WVIAC Player of the Week – went for 22 points and 10 rebounds.  It was the 34th double-double of Brown's career.

The Lady Lions were hot early, shooting .613 (19-31) in the 1st half to lead 49-33 at halftime.  However, CU cooled off after the break, and the Griffins cut their deficit down to five points on two occasions, the last at 56-51 with 12:07 remaining in the game.

But four straight points from Brown -- in 37 seconds -- put Concord ahead 60-51.  A little later, four straight points from Bertrand stretched CU's lead to 66-54 with 7:59 left, and the Lady Lions would lead by double digits for the rest of the game.

Brown and Bertrand would combine to shoot .576 (19-33) from the field and .800 (12-15) from the free throw line.  They also grouped up for seven assists and two steals.

Sophomore forward Amanda Smith added 10 points, five rebounds and three assists without a turnover for the Lady Lions.  Concord has won three straight games.

Paige Aliviani led Seton Hill (2-4, 1-3) with 25 points, but Concord's defense limited the Griffins to just .355 (22-62) from the field.

Up next for the Lady Lions (5-1, 3-1) is a WVIAC matchup against Wheeling Jesuit on Wednesday, December 7 at the Carter Center in Athens.  Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.  Concord will provide Live Stats and live streaming video.

The game – part of a doubleheader with CU's men's team – will be broadcast on ESPN Radio 102.3 The Ticket (WMTD, Hinton/Princeton/Beckley), starting with the “Mountain Lions Preview Show” at 3:40 pm.
