Success, like fame, can be fleeting.  One moment you're on top, but there's no guarantee you'll stay there.

Concord's men's basketball team found that out on Saturday, letting slip an early lead in a 76-64 loss at Seton Hill in a WVIAC matchup in Greensburg, PA.

The Mountain Lions broke out to an early 27-14 lead, but went cold as the host Griffins closed to within 33-30 at halftime.  Seton Hill pulled even at 37-37 less than three minutes into the second half, then embarked on a 19-9 run to lead 56-46 with 10:20 remaining.  CU would get no closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Concord shot a respectable .464 (13-28) from the field in the 1st half, but managed just .268 (11-41) after halftime.  The Griffins would shoot an even .500 (16-32) in the final 20 minutes, and owned a significant advantage at the free throw line.  Seton Hill attempted 26 free throws on the game, making 18, while Concord was 8-16.

Romel Kemp paced the Mountain Lions with 22 points – 16 in the 2nd half.  The junior from Marion, SC wound up 10-19 from the field.

Up next for Concord (3-3, 2-2) is a return to the Carter Center for a WVIAC contest against Wheeling Jesuit on Wednesday, December 7.  The game – part of a doubleheader with CU's women's team – is scheduled to tip off at 6:00 pm.

Concord will provide Live Stats and live streaming video.  Both of Wednesday's games will be broadcast on ESPN Radio 102.3 The Ticket (WMTD, Hinton/Princeton/Beckley) starting with the “Mountain Lions Preview Show” at 3:40 pm.
