The longer it went, the better it got, and it ended with the best outcome of all – a win.

The Concord Volleyball team spotted Ohio Valley the first set, then won the next three going away to win their WVIAC match Friday night at the Carter Center.

The Lady Lions' 21-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-12 victory lifted them to within one match of .500 both overall (14-15) and within the conference (4-5).  It was also the first of three league matches in the span of less than 24 hours for CU.

Friday, the visiting Fighting Scots hit .265 to pull away from an 18-18 tie in taking the first set.  But Concord heated up after that while OVU went cold.

The Lady Lions hit .357 in winning a close second set, while the Scots' hitting percentage plunged to .053.  CU hit .333 in the second set – without an error – with OVU scuffling to .067.

Neither team was particularly efficient in the fourth set.  But Concord's .095 hitting percentage was far better than Ohio Valley's -.081.

Freshman Brytni Willis paced a balanced Concord attack with a match-high nine kills (and a .400 hitting percentage).  Sarah Jones floored seven kills (with a match-high three blocks) and Becca Lovejoy six.
