Concord's Men's Golf team will go into Tuesday's final round of the WVIAC Championships in roughly the same spot they went into the second round on Monday – holding a narrow lead over a closely-bunched field.

The Mountain Lions lost one stroke off their margin after Sunday's first round, but still have a four-shot lead over Pitt-Johnstown.  Bluefield State and West Liberty are tied for third place, eight shots off CU's pace at Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, WV.

Concord posted a 316 team score on Monday, up one from their total on Sunday, to stand at 631.  UPJ trimmed its score by five strokes, from 320 to 315, to hang on to the runner-up spot.

BSC and WLU put themselves in a tie for third by cutting their totals by 13 and 11 shots, respectively.

The University of Charleston is in 5th place, 19 shots back.

Warm temperatures and sunny skies belied a difficult day for the players, who had to contend with a blustery east wind that included gusts up to 25 mph for the second day in a row.

"It was a really hard day to score," CU assistant coach Darcy Donaldson said Tuesday.  "It's rough on everyone.  Our guys were out there grinding it out yesterday, and they're grinding it out again today."

CU's Sebastian Starud moved into second place in the Medalist standings by firing a 77 on Monday.  The junior from Vallentuna, Sweden stands at +7 151 on Glade Springs' 6611-yard, par-72 Cobb Course.

Evan Muscari carded a 79 on Monday to tie for 5th at 156.

Matt Morgan (above) showed the most round-to-round improvement with a 77 on Monday, six shots better than Sunday.  He's tied for 16th at 160.

Nathaniel Begley shot an 83 Monday, to tie for 22nd at 164.  Jamie Arthur followed an 87 Sunday with an 85 Monday to tie for 43rd at 172.

Concord's tee times vary from 9:50 am to 10:30 am in the WVIAC Championships' final round on Tuesday, October 18.
