The Concord Women's Soccer team claimed its fifth consecutive victory with a 1-0 win at WVU Tech on Wednesday afternoon.

Alyssa Hessian scored the only goal of the non-conference match at Coonskin Park in Charleston, WV.  CU evened its record at 6-6 with the win.

In a match that stayed mostly on the midfield, Hessian got free late in the 2nd half.  Moving down the wing, she made a move to the middle and blasted the game-winner past the Golden Bears' goalkeeper in the 76th minute.

“It was a really nice goal.  She made a good move and finished strong,” said CU head coach Stefani Workman.  “There wasn't much going outside the midfield.  There wasn't much attacking, so we had to take advantage of every opportunity.  We were able to put together a breakout, and we made the most of the chance we had.”

Hessian's goal was her third in the last two matches.  She scored both of CU's goals in a 2-1 win over Wheeling Jesuit at Anderson Field.

Concord keeper Kacey Hildebrand (above left) posted her third shutout of the season, and her second in the last three matches.

“She's doing a lot of the right things,” Workman said.  “She's communicating well with the backline and has done great getting our defense set up.  Kacey keeps us in games.”

Up next for the Lady Lions is a WVIAC match against Davis & Elkins this coming Saturday, October 15.  Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 pm in Elkins, WV.
