After Wednesday's frustrating loss at Davis & Elkins, the Concord Women's Basketball team needed something to turn its season back in the right direction.

That something proved to be a home game against the last-place team in the WVIAC.

The Lady Lions returned to form with an 86-52 blowout of struggling Bluefield State Saturday afternoon at the Carter Center.

Concord scored on a Sidney Lindsey layup on the first possession of the game, and never trailed. The Lady Blues, however, stayed in the game until CU embarked on a 24-7 run to take a 45-24 lead at halftime.

Concord turned the game into a rout with a 16-2 run in the first 5:34 of 2nd half. CU took its biggest lead at 72-31 with 9:33 left.

All 13 Lady Lions played, and each got at least seven minutes of playing time.

Freshman Sammi Webster (above) shot a perfect 7-7 from the field to lead CU with a career-high 14 points. Jolysa Brown (below) posted a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds and also blocked five shots. Camisha Alexander added 13 points and five assists, and Lindsey finished with 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Charlene Diggs led Bluefield State with 19 points.

Concord shot .479 (34-71) from the field and limited BSC to .295 (18-61). The Lady Lions had 26 assists and just 13 turnovers, while the Big Blues finished with 12 assists and 23 turnovers.
