LADY LIONS DOWN SVU TO WIN 2nd STRAIGHT MATCH

A balanced attack and contributions throughout the lineup got the Concord Volleyball team past a slow start and on to its second straight victory, a four-set win at Southern Virginia University on Tuesday, September 7.

CU hit -0.056 in dropping the first set, then recovered to .299 over the final three sets – including a scintillating .400 in the pivotal third set -- in a 16-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-20 triumph at Knights Arena in Buena Vista, VA.

Rebecca Lovejoy topped the Lady Lions with 11 kills while hitting an outstanding .429. Amber Miller floored ten kills and Emily Wilson seven. Wilson also added ten digs.

Helen Theisen distributed 29 assists while serving up four aces, to go with five kills in nine attacks.

Shyanee Ison led SVU with 10 kills, one of five Lady Knights with six or more. Ali Krebs chipped in 30 assists and Nicole Gwynn 23 digs.

Concord continues its season-opening road trip with a visit to the USC-Aiken Invtiational in Aiken, SC, on Friday-Saturday, September 10-11.
