CU CLOSES OUT VISIT TO 'FALCON FEST' WITH A WIN

The Concord Volleyball team forged a split in day two of the Falcon Fest tournament in Fairmont, WV Saturday, dropping a 3-0 result to Notre Dame College (OH) before defeating Chowan University (NC) 3-1 in its second match of the day.

Against NDC, Amber Miller totaled five kills and ten digs. Rebecca Lovejoy floored seven kills to lead CU, while Helen Theisen handed out 15 assists and Allie Pennington notched six digs. The Lady Lions fell 25-19, 25-15, 25-12.

Lovejoy topped CU's kill table again, with nine, in the match against Chowan. Emily Wilson and Kayla Martin added seven kills apiece, with Wilson adding five digs. Theisen distributed 23 assists, while Miller chipped in five kills and five digs. Pennington led the Lady Lions in digs, with 13.

Concord dropped Chowan 25-19, 15-25, 25-22, 25-20 to finish 1-3 for the weekend.

The Lady Lions continue their season-opening road trip Tuesday, September 7, with a visit to Southern Virginia University. The match in Buena Vista, VA begins at 6:00 pm.
