LATE RALLY DROPS CONCORD

EAST STROUDSBURG'S THREE-GOAL OUTBURST DOOMS CU

In the wake of Friday's close 1-0 season-opening loss to Holy Family (PA), Concord's Men's Soccer knew it would have a difficult time breaking into the win column in its matchup the next day against East Stroudsburg (PA).

For a while it appeared that breakthrough would occur. But CU couldn't hold a halftime lead in a 3-1 setback to the Warriors Saturday afternoon at Anderson Field.

Frankie Parks got the Mountain Lions on the board first, tallying an unassisted goal in the 30th minute, and CU took led at the break despite being outshot 10-4.

Concord maintained the advantage until ESU got rolling late in the 2nd half. The Warriors' Shastri Spencer leveled the score, off an assist from Mike Kane, in the 72nd minute. In the 74th minute, ESU took the lead when Greg Schook found the back of the net, assisted by Josh Arcona. Kane would score in the 88th minute to seal the victory, with Arcona assisting yet again.

East Stroudsburg would outshoot the Mountain Lions 17-6 in completing an undefeated visit to Athens. The Warriors defeated Davis & Elkins 2-0 at Anderson Field on Friday afternoon.

In Saturday's other game, Holy Family dropped D&E 3-0.

Concord now prepares for its WVIAC opener, Wednesday afternoon against D&E at 4:00 pm in Athens. The Senators took a 3-1 win in Athens in the two teams' last meeting, on September 5, 2009 at Anderson Field.
