BOTH CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS VICTORIOUS AT "PACESETTERS" MEET

Both Concord Cross Country teams claimed victory Saturday, in the Greensboro Pacesetters' 27th Annual Cross Country Invitational.

The Mountain Lions topped the Division II field in the University Division races -- the Women's 5K and the Men's 8K, at Hagan Stone Park in Greensboro, NC.

The women scored 28 points, 35 better than runner-up Winston-Salem State.
The men totaled 26 points, outdistancing 2nd place Winston-Salem State by 22 points.

It was the second consecutive win in the Greensboro event for the Concord women.  The men finished 4th last year.

"It was a brutally hot day," CU head coach Mike Cox said, "and I think the heat got to some of us.  But, all in all, we ran pretty well.
"I was pleased, but I know that, as a team, we can do better.  And we will."
