ANOTHER TWO OVERTIMES, ANOTHER DRAW

MOUNTAIN LIONS TIE SETON HILL

In a contentious and chippy contest marred by tempers, multiple fouls and cards of both colors, the Concord Men's Soccer team played to a 1-1 double-overtime draw with Seton Hill in a WVIAC match Saturday at Anderson Field.

Saturday's double-overtime draw was the second in as many matches for CU and left the Mountain Lions at 0-2-2, 0-0-2 in the WVIAC.

Concord played to a 0-0 tie with Davis & Elkins on Wednesday afternoon.

In Saturday's match, the vocal visitors from Greensburg, PA committed 17 fouls and had two players ejected on red cards in the first 27 minutes of the game. Referees also showed two yellow cards to the Griffins.
Concord was whistled for ten fouls and five yellow cards.

Despite their two-person disadvantage, Seton Hill scored the first goal of the match, when Jordan Eddens took a centering pass from Manny Mazo and slipped the ball under diving CU goalkeeper Jamie Greenwood in the 51st minute.

The score remained level until the 75th minute. A Griffin foul in the box gave Concord a penalty kick, and Ivan Deyanov fired the ball past SHU keeper Jon DeLuca and into the right corner of the net.

Concord outshot SHU 22-8, including a 13-4 advantage in shots on goals. Seven Mountain Lions attempted at least two shots. CU tried 12 corner kicks to three for Seton Hill.

DeLuca's 12 saves helped the Griffins escape Athens with a draw.

Concord plays its first road match of the season Tuesday night, at West Virginia Wesleyan. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm in Buckhannon, WV.
