SOFTBALL START DELAYED

Lady Lions' Opening Day Postponed

Snow, cold and just play bad weather have had a great impact on Concord's indoor Winter sports, forcing a series of changes in CU's basketball schedules.

The weather doesn't look to go away anytime soon, and with the Mountain Lions' outdoor Spring sports season fast approaching, something had to give.

Like the start of CU's 2010 Softball season.

The Lady Lions were scheduled to open their new campaign with a non-conference doubleheader at Lincoln Memorial in Harrogate, TN on Thursday, February 18th.  But due to cold weather and wet grounds, the games are moved back a day, to Friday the 19th.
The doubleheader also has a new start time of 3:00 pm EST, an hour earlier than first scheduled.

Meterologists predict light snow for Harrogate through Wednesday.  The forecast for Thursday calls for clear skies and a high temeprature of 38 degrees.  Friday is expected to be sunny, with a high of 45.

It's hoped the one-day delay will give the improving weather extra time to dry out LMU's field.

Bearing in mind the potential for a bad winter, Concord's second-year head coach Sabrina McCullough hasn't scheduled the Lady Lions' first home game until March 14th.  CU will play its first 20 games on the road or at neutral sites, with only two them in West Virginia.

Concord's home opener will be Sunday, March 14th -- a 1:00 pm EST doubleheader against Slippery Rock (PA).
