This much is certain about the three seniors on Concord's Volleyball team – they can rise to an occasion.

On Senior Day at the Carter Center, playing their final home match, Kayla Martin, Amber Miller and Emily Wilson combined for 41 kills in the Lady Lions' WVIAC contest against Davis & Elkins Saturday morning.

Unfortunately, the outcome didn't match the occasion. Concord scored just seven fewer points than D&E in a 25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 27-25 defeat.

Miller led all players with 16 kills, adding a team-high 14 digs. Wilson hit .500 in slamming 15 kills.
Martin floored 10 kills, also hitting .500 and chipping in 12 digs.

Concord out-killed the Senators 54-51 and out-hit D&E .250 to .228. But CU committed 30 block errors to just two by the visitors.

Helen Thiesen handed out a match-high 45 assists for CU. Freshman libero Allie Pennington finished with 12 digs.

Heather Zapf topped Davis & Elkins with 14 kills. Jana Lowe added 13. The duo combined to hit .354.
Jessica Raffa posted 17 digs.

Despite the loss, Concord has qualified for this year's WVIAC tournament. The league's top 12 teams make the playoffs, and CU can finish no worse than 12th after Sunday's regular-season finale at West Virginia Wesleyan.
The CU-WVWC match begins at 4:00 pm in Buckhannon, WV.

The WVIAC Tournament begins Thursday, November 11 at the Charleston Catholic Athletic Complex in Charleston, WV.
