MEN'S BASKETBALL: HALF AND HALF, THE SEQUEL

MOUNTAIN LIONS OVERCOME POST-HALFTIME STRUGGLES TO DEFEAT BLUEFIELD COLLEGE

Half-Court Set vs BC 27 November 314 x 235
Friday night, the Concord Men's Basketball team overcame a sluggish 1st half to defeat Bluefield State in the first day of the annual Currence Classic in Bluefield, WV.

Saturday night, against Bluefield College, the Mountain Lions had to work through a rocky 2nd half, but achieved a similar outcome.

CU opened a 12-point halftime lead, then fended off repeated comeback attempts by the Ramblin' Rams to claim an 83-76 victory at the Ned Shott Gymnasium.

Concord shot a hearty .594 (19-32) from the floor and 7-10 from the free throw in the 1st half on the way to a 49-37 lead at the break.

But then the Mountain Lions' touch went cold. Concord shot just .313 (10-32) from the field, and a frustrating 14-26 (.538) from the line, in the 2nd half, allowing Bluefield College to draw within five points in the final minute. But two free throws from Rafee Smith closed out the scoring and ended the Rams' hopes.
