CU STARTS SLOW IN LOSS AT PITT-JOHNSTOWN

The Concord Men's Basketball fell behind by ten points early in their WVIAC contest at Pitt-Johnstown Saturday afternoon, and never could get all the way back.

The Mountain Lions dropped a 110-77 decision to the Mountain Cats in their first regular season game of 2010-2011.

Sparked by six points from 6'8”, 280-pound center Patrick Grubbs, Pitt-Johnstown took a 15-5 lead just 6:15 into the game. The Mountain Lions would get within 23-15 with 10:40 to go, but UPJ went on a 23-11 rally to open up a 46-26 advantage with 4:03 remaining in the half.

Concord would climb as close as 71-60 with 11:47 left in the 2nd half, but UPJ embarked on a 24-7 rally to break the game open.

Sophomore center Rick Alderman led Concord with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds. Corey Neeley added 13 points. Javaughn Acree-Manuel and Jerontae Hunter chipped in 10 points each.

Nick Novak topped five Mountain Cats in double figures with a game-high 23 points.

Pitt-Johnstown shot .585 from the field (38-65) while Concord finished at .370 (27-73). UPJ out-rebounded Concord 44-33.
