One goal shared by every WVIAC Women's Basketball team is to finish in the league's top eight, and enjoy home-court advantage in the first round of the conference tournament.

If the conference's official pre-season prediction is to be believed, Concord will do just that. The Lady Lions are picked to finish 7th in the WVIAC's annual coaches' poll.

Head coach Kenny Osborne's squad overcame injuries that sidelined three starters last season to finish 15-13, 12-10 WVIAC. Concord was one of a remarkable 11 teams to finish above .500 in league play.

The Lady Lions were 2nd in the conference in free throw percentage (.754), opponents' field goal percentage (.379) and blocked shots (4.54/game). Guard Camisha Alexander and center Jolysa Brown earned All-WVIAC 2nd Team honors.

Alexander was 4th in the conference in free throw percentage (.824), 7th in scoring (15.1 ppg) and 8th in three-point percentage (.393). Her 41 points against Glenville State on February 15, 2010 tied for the most in a single game.

Brown led the league in offensive rebounds (3.54/game) and was 3rd in overall rebounding (8.9). She was also 3rd in blocked shot (1.96/game) and 10th in scoring (14.8 ppg). She went 12-13 from the floor at Davis & Elkins on November 19, 2009 to post one of the WVIAC's highest single-game performances.

Concord returns three other starters:
Point guard Sarah Blevins (3.3 ppg, 2.6 apg, 2.5 rpg, 22 blocks, 22 steals, .857 FT)
Forward Sidney Lindsey (10.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 22 steals in 15 games)
Forward Kristin Kidd (5.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg, .771 FT)

Also coming back are three key members of the rotation – guards Holly Bibb, Katy Somerville and Annamarie Truckley – and a promising freshman class.

The Lady Lions open the 2010-2011 season with a WVIAC matchup at Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday, November 13. Concord's home opener is Monday, November 15, a non-conference game against Bluefield College (VA) at 7:00 pm at the Carter Center.
