OFFENSE RUNS COLD IN LOSS AT UPJ

On the first night of a cool and crisp Halloween weekend, the Concord Volleyball team never got its attack warmed up in its WVIAC match at Pitt-Johnstown.

The hosts, however, got hot and swept the Lady Lions 25-12, 25-9, 25-16 at the UPJ Sports Center in Johnstown, PA.

It was CU's fifth straight loss, dropping their record to 8-19, 3-6.

The Mountain Cats outhit Concord .382 to -.048 in taking the first set and .455 to -,083 in taking the second.  The third set was closer -- UPJ .233, Concord .194 -- but the Mountain Cats closed out the sweep.  For the match, Pitt-Johnstown hit .349 to .021 for CU.

Amber Miller topped Concord with nine kills and ten digs.  Kayla Martin hit a team-high .286 on her way to six kills.  Helen Theisen contributed 18 assists and nine digs.  Emily Wilson went for five kills and six digs.  Allie Pennington added eight digs.

The trio of Taylor Hrescak, Jessica Heidenthal and Ashley Dirado combined for 24 kills and a .379 hitting percentage to lead Pitt-Johnstown.

Up next for Concord is a visit to Shepherd for another WVIAC match tomorrow morning at 11:00 am in Shepherdstown, WV. 

Monday, the Lady Lions return to the Carter Center to host West Virginia State in a conference contest starting at 7:00 pm.  Admission is free.
