With many of Concord's Fall sports teams having already concluded their seasons, and others in a lull in their schedules, the Halloween weekend will be a relatively quiet one for CU.

Both Golf teams and both Tennis teams have turned their attention to 2011. Cross Country gets the weekend off before next week's WVIAC Championship meet. Women's Soccer is preparing for their conference tournament opener on Monday.

But Halloween weekend won't be all trick-or-treating for CU's Volleyball and Men's Soccer squads....

VOLLEYBALL heads north for a two-match WVIAC road trip. The Lady Lions visit Pitt-Johnstown for a 7:00 pm match Friday, then go to Shepherd for an 11:00 am match the next morning.

At 8-18, 3-5, Concord is in 9th place in the league. UPJ (10-10, 6-5) is 7th and Shepherd (9-15, 7-3) is 5th.

The Lady Lions will look to squash a four-match losing streak and solidify their status as a WVIAC Tournament qualifier. The league's top twelve teams make the tournament, which begins November 11 in Charleston.

Concord will be back at home for a WVIAC match against 13th-place West Virginia State on Monday, November 1. Game time is 7:00 pm at the Carter Center, and admission is free.

MEN'S SOCCER concludes its 2010 schedule with a visit to area NAIA school Mountain State University (9-5-2) on Saturday. Kickoff is at 3:00 pm at the YMCA Sports Complex in Beckley, WV.

The Mountain Lions' attack has been hotter than a jack o' lantern in the past week. CU has scorched the nets for 11 goals in their last two matches, earning a win over Salem International (WV) and a draw with Virginia Intermont.

CU also showed a strong will at VI last Tuesday, twice overcoming two-goal deficits to forge the road draw.
