LADY LIONS DROP FIVE-SET MARATHON TO WEST LIBERTY

A long post-Homecoming week for Concord's Volleyball team ended with five-set loss to West Liberty in a WVIAC match Saturday, October 23 at the Carter Center.

The 25-21, 17-25, 20-25, 25-20, 15-6 setback was the fourth match and fourth loss in a span of six days for the Lady Lions.

Both squads hit well on Saturday, the Lady Toppers at .341 and CU at .278. West Liberty hit .321 in winning the first set, with Concord responding with a .362 percentage over the next two sets.
The Lady Toppers then hit .500 in taking the fourth set, then floored eight kills to Concord's three in winning the decisive fifth.

Amber Miller topped Concord with a match-high 18 kills. Emily Wilson added 11 (and 14 assists), Kayla Martin seven and Rebecca Lovejoy and Tori Fornadel six each. Helen Theisen distributed a match-high 39 assists.

Anne Edwards paced West Liberty with 16 kills, backed up by Rachel Zeigler's 14 and ten from Emily Mellie.

Up next is a northern WVIAC road trip for Concord. The Lady Lions visit Pitt-Johnstown on Friday, October 29 for a 7:00 pm match, then travel to Shepherd for an 11:00 am match the next day.
