Playing its final home match of the season, the Concord Men's Soccer team gave its fans and its only senior quite a going-away present.

The Mountain Lions exploded for five goals in the second in a 6-0 non-conference blowout of Salem International on Senior Day at Anderson Field Saturday afternoon.

Concord completely dominated its former conference rival. CU outshot Salem 28-5 and had a 15-0 advantage in shots on goal.

The Mountain Lions began dictating play as the first half progressed and got the match's first score on Alex Ryan's unassisted goal in the 35th minute.

CU took a 1-0 lead into halftime, then erupted after the break.

Varney Vincent – Concord's lone senior – scored an unassisted goal in the 49th minute.

Four-and-half minutes later, Frazer McKinley scored off an assist from Ryan.

Six-and-a-half minutes after that, Vincent (right, and above) assisted Ivan Deyanov for another goal to push Concord's lead to 4-0.

Deyanov would score again – assisted by Zach Carroll – in the 84th minute.

Ryan closed out the scoring in the 89th minute, off assists from Deyanov and goalkeeper Jamie Greenwood.

Speaking of goalkeepers, both of Concord's backstops – Matt Hamilton and Greenwood – had a bit of a lonely afternoon. Neither had to make a save. Meanwhile, Salem's beleaguered GK Marcus Slauer had to make seven saves.

Deyanov topped Concord with seven shots, four on goal. Ryan attempted six shots, four on goal. Ryne Shuff added five shots, with two on goal.

Up next for Concord is a visit to Virginia Intermont for a non-conference match on Tuesday, October 26. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm in Bristol, VA.
