What do the volleyball teams at Bluefield State, the University of Charleston and West Virginia Wesleyan have in common?

They haven't been swept by Wheeling Jesuit. Or at least not yet.

Concord became the 11th WVIAC team Wheeling Jesuit has swept in its 11 conference matches when the Cardinals defeated CU 25-16, 25-8, 25-13 Friday night at the Carter Center.

WJU has won all 33 of its sets in WVIAC matches by an average score of 25-15.

The visiting Lady Cardinals hit a hearty .391 Friday night, flooring 38 kills with 13 errors in 64 total attacks. Five WJU players had at least five kills, led by nine from reigning WVIAC Player of the Week Allissa Ware. Casey Gates hit .500 in getting her eight kills, while Keysha Allison hit .600 on the way to seven.

Amber Miller crushed eight kills to top the Lady Lions, who hit .113 as a team (16-8-71). Helen Theisen had 11 assists.

Friday's result drops Concord to 8-17, 3-4 and raises Wheeling Jesuit to 22-4, 11-0.

Up next is a quick turnaround for CU, which will host West Liberty in another WVIAC encounter tomorrow morning. Match time is scheduled for 11:00 am. Admission is free.
