LADY LIONS WIN AT GLENVILLE STATE

Call it “taking Homecoming on the road.”

Concord's Volleyball team played with Homecoming Week spirit on Friday night in defeating Glenville State in four sets at the Jesse R. Lilly Gymnasium in Glenville, WV.

The Lady Lions' 25-15, 25-21, 19-25, 25-18 triumph was their sixth in the last nine matches and raised their WVIAC record to 3-3.

The host Pioneers had more kills than Concord (43-34) and more attacks (113-99), but for the Lady Lions, quality prevailed over quantity. CU hit .222 to GSC's .142 and committed just 12 errors to the Pioneers' 27.

Amber Miller topped Concord with 13 kills. Emily Wilson added eight kills and seven digs. Helen Theisen handed out a 21 assists and Allie Pennington chipped in 14 digs.

Glenville State's Chelsea Cooke-Tripp led all players with 16 kills. Jamie Schindel added 13 and Heather Stout ten. Erica Hale had 35 assists and Chelsea Stickelman 15 digs.

Up next for the Lady Lions is a non-conference home match against nearby rival Bluefield College (VA) at 6:30 pm on Monday, October 18 at the Carter Center. Admission is free.
