Turnovers Again Prove Damaging In Loss To Charleston

It's been said that once is a fluke, twice is a pattern and three is a trend.
 
But what about four?
 
For the fourth straight game, the Concord Women's Basketball team had problems with turnovers.
 
For the fourth straight game, the Lady Lions lost.
 
Defending WVIAC champion Charleston exploited CU's wayward habits, racing out to an early double-digit lead and cruising to an 82-59 victory Thursday night at the Carter Center.
 
Concord committed 23 turnovers, 16 in the first half. The Lady Lions have perpetrated 95 turnovers during their losing streak, an average of 21.3 per game.
 
A three-pointer from sophomore Camisha Alexander moved Concord within 6-5 early in the game. But that was followed by a two-minute span in which CU missed two shots and committed two turnovers, while the Golden Eagles made its next four shots to stretch their advantage to 16-5. 
Charleston accelerated from there and opened up a 31-10 lead with 8:13 left in the half, and maintained a sizeable advantage for the rest of the game.
 
Alexander led Concord with 16 points, adding seven rebounds. Jolysa Brown just missed another double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
 
Charleston had five players score in double figures, topped by 21 points from reigning WVIAC Player of the Week Lindsey Kentner. 
 
Concord made only 15 field goals in 48 attempts (.313) while the Golden Eagles shot 31-63 (.492). 
 
Concord fell to 10-7, 7-5 in the WVIAC. Charleston won its fourth straight game to improve to 12-5, 9-3.
 
 
The Lady Lions will host Wheeling Jesuit at 4:00 pm EST Saturday. The Concord men will follow with a 6:00 contest against the Cardinals.
