Concord Drops First Game of the WVIAC Tournament

(JOHNSTOWN, W.Va.)--- story from www.wviac.org West Virginia Wesleyan posted multiple-run innings on four occasions as the Bobcats downed Concord 9-5 in the WVIAC Baseball Championship.

Cory Flickinger and Billy Reams each recorded three hits as the Bobcats racked up 13 base knocks on the day.  Matt Burgess added two hits for Wesleyan and knocked in two runs.

The Bobcats took the lead for good in the fifth inning, snapping a 4-4 tie.  Reams and Adam Lewton opened the frame with singles.  Matt Burgess then added a two-run double for a 6-4 Wesleyan lead.

Cy Mozingo improved to 6-0 by allowing six hits and four runs in six innings of work.  Craig Hriblan worked a scoreless ninth inning to record his school-record 12th save.

Matt Kuntz went 3-for-4 to lead Concord.  Brooks Cullen reached base in all five of his plate appearances with two hits and three walks.

Trey Smith suffered the defeat for Concord, giving up seven runs and ten hits in 5 2/3 innings. 

West Virginia Wesleyan faces Shepherd in a 1:00 p.m. start on Saturday.  Concord will meet Alderson-Broaddus in the 9:30 a.m. start.
