Vienna, WV- Concord entered Monday night's game in desperate need of a blowout to prove that the Lady Lions deserve consideration as one of the WVIAC's best teams. Concord did everything right in their thrashing of Ohio Valley. Concord defeated the Lady Scots 86-58.
Concord began the game on a 28-4 run as they left no doubt that they came to dismantle the Lady Scots. The Lady Lions shots 50 percent from both the floor and three-point range in the first half. Concord produced 18 first half field goals, enough to give any team fits.
The Lady Lions defense looked to be back as they put together an impressive first half. Concord held the Lady Scots to only 7 field goals and 19 first half points. At the break Concord led heavily over Ohio Valley 45-19.
As the game was well in hand, Concord was able to relax more in the second half and settle further into their game. The Lady Lions continued to light it up from the floor as they finished shooting 47 percent for the game.
Concord was able to hold their lead above 20 points for the most of the game and topped off the Lady Scots with a 28 point victory. The Lady Lions crushed Ohio Valley 86-58.
Concord had 5 players over double-digits in scoring. Meghan Cole led the Lady Lions off the bench with a career-high 17 points as she added 6 rebounds. Sierra Brown also came off the bench to score 12 points and 6 rebounds. Samm Nester had 12 points and 4 boards. Becca Flanagan had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Bre Kyle also had 10 points for the Lady Lions. Jamie Cluesman had another solid performance with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Concord (14-5, WVIAC 10-3) will be in Buchannon, WV this Thursday, February 7th at 5:30 pm to take on West Virginia Wesleyan.
