Institute, WV- Concord looked to recover from a Glenville State loss from Thursday night as traveled to West Virginia State. Concord had a strong second half as they pushed past West Virginia State 75-61.
Concord began the half on a 21-8 run but they couldn't hold their lead. The Lady Yellow Jackets would use the next few minutes to go on a 12-2 run pulling with 3 points at 23-20.
The Lady Yellow Jackets would continue to push their run as they led the Lady Lions by as many as 4 points at 30-26 at the 4:30 mark in the first half. Their lead would hold at halftime as they led Concord 32-30 at the half.
Concord tied the game in the second half at 36 at the 16:47 mark. The Lady Lions would begin to mythodically take the lead away from WV State. By the 5 minute mark in the second half Concord had taken a 67-51 lead.
The Lady Lions would to continue to dominate as they would defeat the Lady Yellow Jackets 75-61. Concord shot 45 percent (53 percent in the second half) from the floor, 54 percent from the arc, and 76 percent from the line. Concord recorded 19 assists to WV State's 4.
Sierra Brown led the Lady Lions in scoring off the bench with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Samm Nester added 16 points and Becca Flanagan put in 12 of her own. Jamie Cluesman had 2 points, 8 rebounds, and 12 assists.
Concord (18-6, WVIAC 14-4) will be at home this Monday, February 18th at 5:30 pm for an out of conference match-up with Central State.
