Athens, WV- Concord welcomed in a red hot Fairmont State basketball team for a late afternoon contest. The Falcons came out shooting from long range, but the Mountain Lions stayed poised against their tough opponent. It wasn't until a 17-0 run in the second half put the Falcons up as they won 82-67.
During the first half the Falcons shot 8-15 from long range and 14-36 from the floor for a hot start in the first half. Concord's tough defense and 57% shooting from the floor kept them right in the game. At the end of the first half the score was 37-33 in favor of Fairmont State.
Concord started the second half by taking an early lead and led by as many as 3 points in the second half. But when Dannie Parker went to the bench with his 4th foul at the 12 minute mark the wheels fell off for the Mountain Lions.
Fairmont State proceeded to go on a 17-0 run over the next 4 minutes. Concord would pull back strong but could never recover as they lost 82-67 to Fairmont State.
Dannie Parker led the Mountain Lions in scoring with 22 points and 5 boards. Cordale Boyd added 18 points and 4 rebounds. Rafee Smith chipped in 10 points while Derrick Calloway pulled down 10 rebounds.
Concord (6-8, WVIAC 1-6) will host Fairmont State this Saturday, January 19th at 4:00pm.
