Charleston, WV- The Volleyball team traveled to Charleston, WV this past weekend as they competed in the annual Charleston Invitational. They they faced four qualitiy teams in Bowie State, Findlay, East Stroudsburg, and Wayne State.
Concord's first match-up with Bowie State went to the wire. They lost the first two games 25-30 and 26-30. Roaring back they won the next two 30-24 and 30-28. The match came to a 5th game and Bowie State edged the Lady Lions in a tough one, with a final score of 18-16.
Concord faced a tough Findlay squad in Friday's final match-up losing in three with scores of 30-13, 30-10, and 30-13.
On Saturday, the first match was with ESU. Concord found themselves down quickly in game one with a score of 30-15. The Lady Lions fought hard but came up short in the next two games, losing 30-24 and 30-26.
The final match featured a powerful Wayne State team. Concord improved throughout all three games but it wouldn't be enough as they were defeated 30-10, 30-17, and 30-27.
Concord (1-6) opens WVIAC play at home Monday, September 10th with their rival Bluefield State. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
