Concord Beats Shepherd in Open WVIAC Schedule

Sarch Coelho records her first shutout of the season

Shepherdstown, WV- Concord University's Womens Soccer was on another long road trip for the second weekend in a row. This time they headed to West Virginia's northern panhandle to take on the Shepherd Rams. Concord defeated the Rams in a tough struggle going into double overtime with a final score of 1-0.

Sarah Coelho recorded her first shut-out of the season against the Rams. Coelho was a wall for the Lions, allowing none of the Rams shots through.

The Lady Lions were aggressive offensively, outshooting the Rams but just couldn't get past Shepherd's goalie. Head Coach Steve Barrett said, "She (Ball, Shepherd's goalkeeper) was brillant."

It wasn't until the 103rd minute, in second overtime, when senior captain Laura Ciccone found the back of the net on an unassisted goal to end the game.

Concord (2-2, 1-0 WVIAC) prepares for their home opener as they welcome Salem International this Tuesday, September 4th. Gametime is set for 4:00pm on Anderson Field.
