Concord Women Slip Past Golden Eagles

Samm Nester had 10 points against Charleston
Athens, WV- As the holiday break begins at Concord the Lady Lions found themselves on the road to take on a pesky Charleston team. The Lady Lions slipped past the Golden Eagles 60-56.

Charleston is known for being one of the toughest places to play and the Lady Lions found out why tonight. Concord shot 40% in the first half and took a four point in to the break at 30-26.

The hot shooting fell off in the second but another strong night from the free throw line proved to be the difference in this close game. Concord was 8-9 in the first half and 10-12 in the second half as they shot a blazing 86% for the game at the free throw line. The Golden Eagles finished the game only at 58% from the line.

Concord's first half lead of four points proved to be the final point margin as the Lady Lions defeated the Golden Eagles 60-56.

Amber Showalter had an outstanding game as she scored 12 points, had 13 boards and 4 assists to led the Lady Lions. Lyndsey Repass added 12 points off the bench. Samm Nester and  Becca Flanagan both ended the game with 10 points a piece. Jamie Cluesman  ended up with 7 points, 9 boards, and 7 assists.

Concord (4-1, 3-0 WVIAC) will move on to the Armstong Atlantic Classic on Tuesday and Wednesday in Georgia. Concord will play Mars Hill at 1:00 on Tuesday, December 18th.
