Seniors Jenna Schleucher and Laura Ciccone in the first round of the WVIAC Tournament
Athens, WV- The Lady Lions traveled to Wheeling, WV for a replay of last years WVIAC championship game. The Lady Lions took on the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals. The Lady Cardinals defeated the Lady Lions 5-0 in a game that was much closer than the score indicates.
The Lady Cardinals outshot the Lady Lions 18-10. The first goal came in the 16th minute of the match at Lindsey Getz found the net for the Cardinals. "After about the 25th minute we finally set down and began to play well," says head coach Steve Barrett.
The game was locked at 1-0 in favor of the Lady Cardinals until the 72th minute of the match when Groff found the net to push the score to 2-0. The Lady Lions would there try and push the ball to create more scoring oppertunities. The Lady Cardinals would rebound on those oppertunities pushing the final score to 5-0.
The Lady Lions finish their season at 12-8-1 and finish 9-3-1 in WVIAC play. Congradulations to the Lady Lions on another great season.
