In his final two starts at Conord, Abernathy pitched a combined 14.2 innings as he struck out 14 and allowed just four earned runs in the Mountain East Conference Tournament. Abernathy began the MEC Tournament by tossing a complete game against Wheeling in CU's 15-1 win. Abernathy struck out nine and allowed just one earned run Thursday. He returned on Sunday to pitch 5.2 innings against West Virginia State where he struck out five more. The Harrisonburg, Virginia native became Concord's single-season record holder in strikeouts with 85, and finished his career with 223 strikeouts, tied for second all-time.
