Akers raced two relay events and one individual event at the Keydet Invite over the weekend. The Pulaski, Virginia native clocked a personal-record time of 4:28.22 in the mile run and finished 20th overall. He also helped CU to a 13th place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. The Mountain Lions were fourth in the distance medley relay with Akers running the opening leg--the 1,200 meters
