Weitzel won the MEC Championship Saturday by running a time of 27:17 for 8,000-meters. Weitzel helped the Mountain Lions to the team championship for the second consecutive year. Additionally, the Athens, West Virgnia native became the second runner in four years to win the conference individual title after Robby Peters was the conference champion in 2013.
