Postseason honors continued to pour in for Concord University baseball senior first baseman Joey Miller, who was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's Atlantic Region Player of the Year last week.

Miller, who was also earned first team Daktronics All-Atlantic Region accolades last week, led the Mountain Lions to a school-record 38 wins after batting .390 (71-for-182) with 46 runs, 13 home runs, 21 doubles and 71 RBI as well as slugging .720 with a .433 on-base percentage. In addition to his home run total, Miller's 34 extra-base hits accounted for 47.9 of his total production in 2014.

The 2014 Mountain East Conference Player of the Year has been one of the top all-around hitters in NCAA Division II this season, ranking first in the nation in RBI, fourth in doubles, seventh in slugging percentage, ninth in home runs and 12th in total bases.

Miller did his best work when it mattered most, hitting .416 (47-for-113) with runners on base and .393 (33-for-84) with runners in scoring position. He ended his collegiate career on a nine-game hitting streak and led Concord on the year with 22 multi-hit games and 20 multi-RBI contests. In the field, he committed just two errors in 428 chances at first base for a team-high .995 fielding percentage.

Despite playing at Concord for only two seasons after transferring into the program from Frederick Community College as junior, Miller leaves Athens ranking fifth in CU history in home runs (28), eighth in RBI (141) and 11th in batting average (.366).

It was also announced last week that Miller had been named a semifinalist for the Tino Martinez NCAA Division II Player of the Year award.

A 2014 Capital One Academic All-District selection, Miller will graduate from Concord with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Tourism Management Saturday.

The Mountain Lions closed out their year by winning 20 of their final 25 games to push their record to 38-16 overall, the best in school history.
