Concord University senior mid-distance runner Shawnee Carnett was named the Mountain East Conference’s Athlete of the Year after an impressive senior season that has already included one 800-meter run indoor national championship, an outdoor 800-meter NCAA automatic qualifying time as well as MEC titles in the 800-meters, 1,500-meter run and as a member of CU’s championship 4x400-meter relay team.
