Hammonds was named the Mountain East Conference Freshman of the Year after her performance at the MEC Championships. She won the heptathlon with 4,635 points as she dethroned three-time defending champion Samantha Cash. Hammonds took second in the javelin and was third in the long jump as she eclipsed her own school record with a mark of 5.70 meters. She also broke the program record in the heptathlon and the 100-meter hurdles (15.07 seconds).
