WOMEN'S GOLF: SUDDEN END

The Concord women's golf team knew this weekend's Gannon Spring Mixer would mark the end of its spring season.  They just didn't expect it to end so soon.

The threat of a late-April snowstorm forced tournament officials on Sunday to end the tournament after just one of its scheduled two rounds at the Pee'k N Peak Resort course in Clymer, NY.

Forecasters are calling for 10-17 inches of snow to fall in southwest New York and northeast Pennsylvania from Sunday night through Tuesday morning.  The Pee'k N Peak course is only 15 miles from Lake Erie.

Concord's Marina Erice – the reigning WVIAC Player of the Year – won Medalist honors by firing a 76 on the par-72, 5802-yard course.  Teammate Shelby Myers carded a 78 to tie for 4th on the leaderboard.

All-WVIAC player Justine Knox shot and 84 and Heather McMillen posted a 96.

Concord's 334 team score put it in 4th place, four strokes out of 3rd and 15 shots back of 1st-place Gannon University (PA), the tournament's host.

Erice (on cover) led the field with 14 pars, tied for the lead in par-4 scoring, tied for 4th in par-5 scoring and tied for 6th on par-3's.  Myers (above right) tied for the lead in birdies, tied for 3rd on par-5's and tied for 5th on par-4's.
