Sometimes in tournament golf, it's not a matter of posting a low number, but grinding out the lowest number you can.
Ten of the 13 Men's Golf teams playing in the WVIAC Northern Regional saw their scores rise from round one to round two. Concord was among them.
The Mountain Lions totaled a 316 in Monday's second round, 15 strokes more than the day before. That opened the door for the University of Charleston, which better minimized its second-day increase to capture the tournament championship.
The Golden Eagles posted a 311 Monday, just seven shots more than Sunday, to finish two shots ahead of Concord and five ahead of third-place Ohio Valley on the par-71, 7001-yard Speidel Golf Club course at the Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, WV.
Team-By-Team results:
Emmanuel Charmat was Concord's top individual performer, tying for fourth place overall with a +9 151. He and Ryan Terdik were Concord's two players to improve their scores from Sunday to Monday. Johan Isberg, whose first-round 72 tied him for the lead, scuffled to an 84 in the second round.
