WIN-WIN

MOUNTAIN LIONS WIN TEAM, MEDALIST HONORS AT CONCORD INVITATIONAL

Concord's Men's Golf team came oh-so-close to victory more than once last fall, finishing third, second and second in their final three tournaments of 2009.

In their second tournament of the 2010 Spring season, Concord took the top spot.

The Mountain Lions broke away from a three-way first-round tie to claim a five-stroke victory in their own Concord University Invitational, which concluded Sunday, March 21st at the Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, WV.

Emmanuel Charmat 'sized'

To add to the good news, Concord earned the top two individual spots – junior Emmanuel Charmat bested teammate Johan Isberg in a playoff to determine the tournament's Medalist.

Concord, Ohio Valley and Pfeiffer University (NC) ended Saturday's first round tied for the lead at 305, on the 5171-yard, par-71 Glade Springs course.
Sunday, OVU shot 311 to drop to fifth, Pfeiffer totaled 301 but fell to third, while Concord totaled a 295 to grab the victory.
Indiana (PA) turned in Sunday's best round; the Crimson Hawks' 293 vaulted them three spots into the tournament's runner-up spot.

Isberg followed his Saturday-best 69 with a 71 on Sunday. Charmat went 70-70 to force the playoff, which he won with a par on the first hole.
The two teammates were the only players to finish the tournament under par.
