The Men improved their record, 12-10, 9-9, with a victory over the Fighting Scots, 88-74 in the Carter Center this afternoon.
There were three lead changes in the first half before CU really picked up their game and kept it for the remainder. The last lead the Fighting Scots had was 21-19 with 11:34 left in the first half. That ended with a three-pointer from
Javaughn Manuel with 11:01 on the clock. To end the half the men headed to the locker room with momentum on their side, 47-32.
Two of the Mountain Lions contributed with double figures -
Romel Kemp with a team high 18 points and 6 rebounds and Manuel with 15 points. Gentry Shrewsbury also contributed under the boards with 7 rebounds.
The Fighting Scots kept it semi-close in the second half but CU maintained their lead throughout. This was done by the men outshooting their opponents in field goal percentage, 46.8% to 42.2%, in three-point field goal percentage, 52.6% to 26.7%, and free throw percentage, 80% to 76.2%. Mike Boyd contributing at the line shooting 5-6 for 9 of his points.
Ohio Valley's Austin Cunningham led the team with 24 points and 6 boards.
CU Men's basketball will be hosting Glenville State for their next WVIAC matchup on Monday, February 13. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
