Once they got ahead, they stayed there.

The Concord Volleyball fell behind only once in their non-conference match against Mountain State University (WV) Thursday night at the Carter Center.  But once the Lady Lions took the lead, they held it for good, sweeping the Cougars 25-19, 25-17, 25-17.

Concord was down early in the first set, 8-7, but reeled off the next four points to move in front and never trailed again.

The victory snapped CU's three-match losing streak and raised its record to 9-12.

The Lady Lions hit an impressive .309 as a team, including .371 in the first set.  CU floored 39 kills to the Cougars' 22.

Sarah Jones led a balanced Concord offense with nine kills and just one error.  Helen Theisen added eight kills with no errors, along with a match-high 32 assists.  Becca Lovejoy chipped in seven kills and Tori Fornadel six.

For MSU, Brenna Coffey had nine kills and Xaviera Tenakhongva posted 23 assists.

Up next for Concord is a quick turnaround, and a WVIAC match.  The Lady Lions host Glenville State on Friday, October 14, at 1:00 pm at the Carter Center.
It will be Senior Day, and Theisen and Fornadel will be honored during pre-match ceremonies.  Admission is free.
