CU CONCLUDES PERFECT FALL WITH HISTORIC WVIAC CHAMPIONSHIP

Team With Trophy 1024 x 840

Sometimes, it's good to be a GOAT. As in “Greatest Of All Time.”

Concord's Men's Golf team set a new record in completing an epic 52-stroke victory in the WVIAC Championships Tuesday, at the Cobb Course at Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, WV.

The Mountain Lions' 296 on Tuesday gave them a final team total of 881, the lowest 54-hole total in Championships history.
It's a healthy six strokes better than the old record of 887 set by Glenville State in 1995 and equaled by Concord in 2004 – when CU assistant coach Darcy Donaldson was a freshman player for the Mountain Lions.

CU's Emmanuel Charmat (right) secured Medalist honors after carding a +2 74 on Tuesday. He finished the tournament at -2 214 and was the only player to end up under par.
He was just two strokes off the individual record set by Tim Fisher of Glenville State in 2004.

It was Charmat's second consecutive Medalist performance and it wrapped up a remarkable fall season.  The senior from Neuilly-sur-Seine, France topped the field at the WVIAC Northern Regional October 10-11 after finishing 3rd in the Central Regional September 27-28.

“The course is perfect. I enjoy playing here,” Charmat said outside the clubhouse after finishing his round late Tuesday afternoon. “I played well on the front nine and was hoping to play well on the back. The main thing here is to avoid making double (bogeys) and I was able to do that.

"The best thing about this tournament is that we won as a team.”

Ryan Terdik finished 3rd, Matt Morgan 4th, Johan Isberg 7th and Andreas Reideborn tied for 19th for Concord.

Terdik shot a 74 Tuesday to end at 220, six strokes back of Charmat.

Morgan posted a 71 Tuesday, the second-best round of the day, to finish at 223.

Isberg carded a 77 to end at 227.

Reideborn shot an 83, finishing at 237.
